J. CRAIG COWGILL

J. Craig Cowgill is an attorney practicing law in Houston, Harris County, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas, on March 27, 1943. Mr. Cowgill was admitted to the Bar of the State of Texas in 1970. He is a member of the Bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He is a member of the Houston and American Bar Associations and the Houston Association of Trustee Attorneys.

He received his Business Degree in 1967 from the University of Houston, and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree in 1970 from South Texas College of Law. While attending South Texas College of Law, Mr. Cowgill received a Student Bar Association Award and the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Mr. Cowgill became actively involved in bankruptcy matters in 1971. He practiced primarily as a Trustee and Receiver in several thousand cases. From approximately 1974 to the present, Mr. Cowgill has been actively engaged in representing Trustees, Debtors and Creditors in Bankruptcy Courts. In 1996 he completed training in mediation through the A. A. White Dispute Resolution Institute at the University of Houston. Mr. Cowgill has served as President, Chairman, and several other offices of the standing committee for the Southern District of Texas. Mr. Cowgill has lectured throughout the State of Texas on Bankruptcy practice and procedure. Mr. Cowgill's legal practice consists primarily of business and commercial litigation, with special emphasis on debtors and creditors' rights and bankruptcy matters.
